7/11/2017 · In my career dealing with Systems-on-a-Chip (SoCs) of varying complexity, external RAM meant any RAM that was off-chip. Some of those chips were quite large, with quite a lot of on-chip RAM. The chips I worked on ranged from 64K of on chip RAM (TMS320C6211) all the way to ~14MB of on chip RAM . Each of those chips has an EMIF controller.

hmmm, I’m not sure about external ram , but readyboost is similar if you have vista. thinking about it there’s a possibility you could just move the page file in xp to a flash drive essentially creating a readyboost drive in xp. just don’t remove the flash drive.
